To make a _wide-angle lens_ (one that can distort the image—as a _fish-eye lens_ does) hold down the Shift key and drag the lens outward (counter-clockwise) to make the lens expand. For a fish-eye lens, release the Shift key, drag the lens inward (clockwise) to make it smaller, and click the OK button. For a tilting lens, hold down the Shift key and click the OK button.

When you apply an effect to an image, it’s on the current layer. For example, if you make a Picture style change, the Picture Style option is on the current layer. If you drag a Gradient Overlay, it’s on the current layer. If you duplicate and paste an image onto a new layer and then edit the new layer, a copy of the image is on the original layer.

Here’s a good example of when to use layers. You may have a photo taken for a client and want to “save” that shot in the highest quality format possible, without having to send the original. You can use Photoshop’s Save for Web feature to turn the original photo into a Web-quality image, so you need the image on a separate layer. Then you save the layer as a JPEG file and email it to your client. The client can open the photo right in his Web browser, and he can use his favorite graphics program to make any changes he wants to make before saving to his PC or to the Internet.

## Layers

Layers are the way you control the appearance of an image. You can create the image, add layers to it, modify the layers, copy layers, merge layers, apply effects to layers, and use the amazing Photoshop’s non-destructive editing features (which means that you can make changes and go back to previous versions of your image rather than blowing it up completely) to edit a layer.

Each layer is also called an _area_ because you can edit or combine different areas (cropped sections) of the layer to create a composite image.

In Windows, you must use the default Open dialog or the Save for Web dialog to save the file. Layers are created in the Open dialog, and any changes to the file are saved back to the default version. You can change the settings in the Save for Web dialog to preserve the changes. See Chapter 17 for instructions on

This can be considered a stripped down version of Photoshop without modules such as the Liquify tool and the Eraser tool. Additionally, this version does not include 3D tools such as the 3D brush, the Eraser tool, or Lens Blur.

Make Photoshop simulations easy with the customizations. This allows you to create custom backgrounds, panels, editing windows, and shortcuts.

You can use a 16×16, 32×32, or 64×64 pixel canvas for most tasks. This allows you to zoom more easily when working on large images. When you resize the canvas, it maintains the same aspect ratio as the original image.

The new, minimalistic and clean interface has been likened to the Google Chrome web browser. When you launch Elements, the menus and toolbars appear in a new browser tab. The Elements Document and view modes appear in this tab. The Artistic, Filter, and Layers tabs appear in the browser title bar at the top of the document.

Elements is available for Windows and macOS.

Elements is a completely separate application from Adobe Photoshop. Photoshop will run under Windows, macOS or Linux. However, Photoshop Elements will run only on Windows and macOS.

Elements does not offer a version for tablets.

While all of this is interesting, I wish OP didn’t have to make assumptions
about the client and things like this:

…stop making assumptions that people will have this knowledge and just write
software that works for the majority of your users, be it PHP or Node.js. And
on that note, you should never assume what the client will use, they’ve
probably already chosen something, even if it’s crap:

found myself writing close to 100% JavaScript. This means that my codebase
largely compiles to plain text before the user sees it. This gives us an
immense advantage in working remotely.”

If you find yourself doing this repeatedly, cut and paste your Node.js code
into a PHP script and run it locally on the client’s system.

True, when I started at BurnCard, the codebase was mostly old-school Perl. At
the same time, the PHP codebase was far more maintainable and effective than
the Perl codebase had ever been. I’m also not trying to imply that Node.js
can’t be used in more modern applications. I just want to emphasize that
Node.js is not (yet) the only game in town for building a scalable app.

To investigate the effect of chemotherapeutic regimens and radiotherapy in patients with localized and metastatic pleomorphic xanthoastrocytoma (PXA). The clinical data of 13 patients with localized and metastatic PXA treated with chemotherapeutic regimens and radiotherapy at the Peking Union Medical College Hospital from January 1998 to June 2007 were analyzed. Eleven patients received multimodality treatment. After the surgery of the tumor, the chemotherapeutic regimens included temozolomide, vincristine, cyclophosphamide, etoposide and carboplatin. The patients received radiotherapy at the intensity of 2.0-3.0 Gy x 30 times. The median follow-up was 66 months (3-106 months). The local control rate, local recurrence rate and metastatic rate were 91.7%, 9.1% and 53.8%, respectively. Chemotherapy and radiotherapy could improve local control. The median overall survival was 66 months, the median progression-free survival was 37 months. Chemotherapy and radiotherapy could prolong progression-free survival. Three-dimensional brachytherapy at the intensity of 2-4 Gy x 5 times might be a good treatment for the local recurrence after radiotherapy.
